Ella Ostermüller studied Art History and Study of Religion at the Georg-August University in Göttingen and the Ca’Foscari University of Venice. Further she obtained a DAF (Deutsch als Fremdsprache) teacher’s certificate. Ella Ostermüller graduated in Art History with a Master’s theses on German Museum History.
Currently she is enrolled as a doctoral student at the International Graduate School 1956 cultural transfer and ‘cultural identity’ (Internationales Graduiertenkolleg 1956 Kulturtransfer und ‘kulturelle Identität’) located at Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg and the Russian State University for the Humanities (RGGU) in Moscow.
In her thesis, she examines the Russian State Historical Museum and the State Tretyakov Gallery contextualizing them in Russia’s discourse on national identity in the late 19th century.
